UNDIP, Semarang (1/7) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), through its Office of Journal Management and Indexing (Kantor Pengelolaan Jurnal dan Indeksasi / KPJI), held the “Sejenak Bersama Rektor” (A Moment with the Rector) forum under the theme “Building Synergy, Strengthening Reputation” at the FIB UNDIP Art Center on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The event served as a dialogue between the UNDIP Rector and journal managers across the university to strengthen the governance of scholarly journals while enhancing the quality of reputable scientific publications.
In his report, the Head of the UNDIP Office of Journal Management and Indexing, Dr. Anang Wahyu Sejati, S.T., M.T., stated that 110 journals are currently managed under KPJI. As of mid-2026, 11 UNDIP journals are indexed by Scopus, while 7 additional journals are undergoing indexing. The university aims to increase this number through continuous mentoring and capacity-building initiatives.
During the event, KPJI also introduced the UNDIP Journal Management Master Plan 2026–2031, which will serve as the strategic roadmap for the development of the university’s scholarly journals over the next five years. The master plan was formulated to implement UNDIP’s Strategic Plan for research and publication and will serve as a shared guideline for all journal managers. Its implementation focuses on improving services, strengthening human resource capacity, developing supporting infrastructure, expanding collaborative networks, and refining the governance of scientific journals.
According to Dr. Anang, the master plan was developed through a participatory approach to ensure it addresses the actual needs of journal managers. “We developed this master plan as a shared guideline for the development of UNDIP journals over the next five years. Therefore, we welcome input from all journal managers to ensure that the programs implemented truly address the needs in the field and can be sustained over time,” he said.
He further explained that KPJI will prioritize regular support services, enabling journal managers to receive assistance whenever needed, ranging from Open Journal Systems (OJS) management and journal quality improvement to guidance throughout the national and international indexing process.
In line with this development strategy, UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., emphasized that successful journal management depends not only on individuals but also on the establishment of a sustainable system. “Our focus now is to build a system. Once the system is in place and functioning well, we hope it will guide all of us in the right direction,” he remarked.
Through this forum, UNDIP reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a professional, adaptive, and globally competitive scientific publication ecosystem. Strong collaboration among the university leadership, journal managers, editors, reviewers, and the academic community is expected to strengthen further UNDIP’s position as a leading university in scholarly journal management and high-impact scientific publications.
