UNDIP, Semarang (11/2) – Collaboration between industry and higher education was once again demonstrated through the distribution of “Busana Apparel Group Management Disaster Care” aid to Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) students from areas affected by floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The event took place on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, from 10:00–11:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) in the Rector’s Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Widya Puraya Building, Universitas Diponegoro, Tembalang Campus, Semarang.
This event is part of the Busana Apparel Group’s social commitment to supporting the sustainability of student education while strengthening the strategic partnership between UNDIP and the industry sector.
Present at the event were UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., along with university leaders and the Apparel Group Board of Directors, represented by Mr. Sasiwanen, Chief Operating Officer of PT Ungaran Sari Garments; Mr. Anil George; Chief Human Resources Officer, Mr. Cipto Santosa, the deans of faculties and schools, the Director of Student Affairs and Alumni, and student recipients.
UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., in his speech expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between UNDIP and the Busana Apparel Group. He emphasized that synergy between university and industry is key to building a resilient and sustainable education ecosystem. “Educational success cannot stand alone. Collaboration between the government, universities, and industry is necessary. The concern demonstrated by the Busana Apparel Group aligns with UNDIP’s vision as a noble and valuable campus, not only excelling academically but also serving the community,” said Prof. Suharnomo.
The Rector added that UNDIP is actively involved in various disaster responses by deploying medical and paramedical teams, providing trauma healing services, and providing water treatment technology to assist affected communities. In addition, the university provides tuition waivers, living expenses assistance, and a free nutritious meal program for disaster-affected students.
On the occasion, a representative from the Busana Apparel Group, Mr. Sasiwanen, stated that caring for students affected by the disaster is part of the company’s social responsibility and a form of support for the younger generation pursuing their education. “We believe that every test is part of the process of becoming a stronger and more independent person. We hope this assistance will encourage students to stay focused on completing their studies and achieving a better future,” said Mr. Sasiwanen.
The Busana Apparel Group raised Rp 1 billion in funds, which was allocated to affected areas in Aceh and Sumatra. The assistance was provided not only to affected internal employees but also to 140 students from various universities, including Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP). The management team also visited the affected areas to ensure the aid was distributed effectively.
This collaboration extends beyond providing social assistance, but also opens up opportunities for broader collaboration in the areas of talent development, internships, applied research, and graduate recruitment. With over 32,000 employees and an extensive industry network, the Busana Apparel Group is offering opportunities for top UNDIP graduates to join and contribute to the global manufacturing and garment industry.
