UNDIP, Semarang (27/5) – The Management Board of the Universitas Diponegoro’s Campus Mosque (Maskam UNDIP) held the Eid al-Adha 1447 H Prayer at the UNDIP Campus Mosque on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Imam Ustadz Yasir Muna Al-Hafidz led the prayer. At the same time, the sermon (khutbah) was delivered by Dr. Abdul Kohar Mudzakir, S.Pi., M.Si., a lecturer at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro. The Eid prayer was conducted in a solemn, orderly, and peaceful atmosphere, attended by thousands of worshippers from the UNDIP academic community and residents.
In his sermon, Dr. Abdul Kohar explained that Eid al-Adha commemorates a monumental event in Islamic history—the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him. As recorded in Surah As-Saffat verse 102, the Qur’an recounts the dialogue between Prophet Ibrahim and his son, Prophet Ismail (Ishmael), regarding Allah’s command, delivered through a dream, for Ibrahim to sacrifice his son. However, through unwavering faith and devotion to Allah, Prophet Ibrahim faithfully prepared to carry out the command.
He further noted that one of the key lessons from the Hajj pilgrimage, currently undertaken by approximately five million Muslims in the Holy Land, is the spirit of action and sacrifice. After performing Hajj, Muslims are expected to actively contribute to improving the welfare of the Muslim community by helping others, courageously upholding truth and justice, and sacrificing their wealth, time, and energy for the advancement of the ummah.
“The wisdom of Hajj is that, after performing it, a person is expected to move forward and make sacrifices for the progress and welfare of the Muslim community,” said Dr. Abdul Kohar.
Following the Eid al-Adha prayer, the UNDIP Campus Mosque will organize the ritual slaughter of sacrificial animals on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the mosque courtyard. A total of eight cattle and fifteen goats have been prepared for the occasion. (Public Communication/UNDIP/AKS & As3)
