UNDIP, Surabaya (13/6) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) once again achieved outstanding success at the 2026 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad for Higher Education Students (ONMIPA-PT) Competition, organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) from June 8–11, 2026.
At the prestigious competition, which brought together top students from universities across Indonesia, the UNDIP contingent earned one Gold Medal in Biology, awarded to Reyhan Patera Pramudya from the Faculty of Medicine, one Silver Medal in Biology, awarded to Ida Ayu Bulan Putri Ahilya from the Faculty of Medicine, and one Silver Medal in Mathematics, awarded to M. Rival Faiz Faturohman from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics. This achievement marks a significant improvement over the previous year, when UNDIP secured two Bronze Medals and one Honorable Mention in Biology.
The improved results reflect UNDIP’s strong commitment to nurturing talented students in Mathematics and the Natural Sciences. Through a continuous process of selection and intensive training, UNDIP’s delegates demonstrated exceptional competence amid highly competitive national-level challenges.
The achievement received appreciation from Nurdin Bahtiar, S.Si., M.T., the UNDIP ONMIPA Coordinator, who expressed gratitude for the university’s delegates’ accomplishments at the 2026 National ONMIPA-PT.
“Alhamdulillah, at the 2026 National ONMIPA-PT, UNDIP succeeded in winning one gold medal and two silver medals. This achievement is the result of the hard work of our students, mentors, and all parties who supported the preparation and coaching process. We hope this proud accomplishment can be maintained and further improved in the years ahead,” he said.
According to him, the success demonstrates that UNDIP students are capable of competing at the national level and reflects the growing quality of academic mentoring and development at the university.
These achievements were not attained overnight. The delegates underwent a rigorous selection process, beginning at the university level and continuing through regional competitions before advancing to the national stage to compete with the best students from across Indonesia.
One of the medalists, M. Rival Faiz Faturohman from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, who won a Silver Medal in Mathematics, shared that the National ONMIPA-PT was an invaluable experience.
“For me, the National ONMIPA-PT is not just a competition—it is also about learning and growing together. I was delighted to interact with outstanding students from across Indonesia, sharing stories, experiences, and the same passion for science. At the same time, the highly competitive atmosphere naturally created tension because every participant came fully prepared and brought their best abilities,” he said.
He also expressed his hope that the National ONMIPA-PT will continue to serve as a platform for developing scientific talent among Indonesian students. “I hope the National ONMIPA-PT continues to be a prestigious event for Indonesian students. In addition to maintaining its high standards of organization, I hope that support and appreciation for participants and medalists can be enhanced in the coming years. Such recognition would honor the hard work of participants and encourage more students to excel in the field of science,” he added.
This improvement over the previous year is expected to inspire the entire UNDIP academic community to continue enhancing academic quality, research excellence, and student achievements at both the national and international levels. (Public Communication / UNDIP)
