UNDIP, Tianjin, China (9/5) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) continues to strengthen its position as a key player in global medical education through a strategic partnership with Tianjin Medical University (TMU), China. On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a new chapter of international collaboration in medical education and research.
The visit coincided with the International Symposium on Medical Education, themed “AI Empowering International Education: Opportunities and Transformations in Global Student Mobility.” The event was held at the Academic Lecture Hall 201, International Medical School Building, TMU, and was led by Prof. Ai Ding, Vice President of Tianjin Medical University.
AI-Driven Transformation of Medical Education
UNDIP’s presence in China represented more than a formal visit; it was part of a broader mission to transform medical education. Representing UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk(K), attended the symposium alongside dr. Muflihatul Muniroh, M.Si., Med., Ph.D. (Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs); dr. Nani Maharani, M.Si.Med., Ph.D.; and Dr. Yuriz Bakhtiar, Ph.D., Sp.BS(K), FINPS.
As one of the symposium’s keynote speakers, Prof. Yan Wisnu delivered a presentation entitled:
“Transforming Medical Education in Indonesia: Integrating Artificial Intelligence, Global Mobility, and Oncology Training – Insights from Universitas Diponegoro.”
In his presentation, Prof. Yan outlined a forward-looking framework for medical education that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and oncology training. The model aims to address disparities in the quality of medical education in developing countries by using AI as a catalyst for systemic transformation.
MoU Signing: A Strategic Partnership
The highlight of the visit was the official MoU Signing Ceremony between Universitas Diponegoro and Tianjin Medical University. The agreement covers several strategic areas, including:
- Student exchange programs;
- Joint research and scientific publications;
- Development of medical education programs for general practitioners, specialists, and subspecialists.
This partnership with one of China’s leading medical institutions represents a significant step in expanding UNDIP’s global academic network and enhancing the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
