UNDIP, Semarang (3/6) – Hundreds of students from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Diponegoro (FEB UNDIP) had the valuable opportunity to learn directly from professionals at Bloomberg Singapore through a Bloomberg Training program held on May 22, 2026, at the Bloomberg Financial Market Laboratory, FEB UNDIP. The event featured Kevin Lau and Viancqa Kurniawan from Bloomberg Singapore, who shared insights on global financial market analysis, data-driven investment strategies, and emerging trends in sustainable investing.
The training provided students with a unique experience, allowing them not only to study investment theories in the classroom but also to engage directly with the technology and platforms used by professionals in the global financial industry. Using the Bloomberg Terminal, students learned how professional investors and market analysts make decisions based on economic data, market conditions, and global policy developments.
During the first session, Kevin Lau discussed the importance of understanding the global economy through macroeconomic analysis and technical analysis. Students were introduced to various Bloomberg features widely used by international financial institutions for monitoring market movements and assessing global economic trends. Through simulations and case studies, participants learned to analyze market trends, understand relationships among financial instruments, and interpret market expectations regarding central bank interest-rate policies. The session provided valuable insights into how data serves as the foundation for developing risk-based and evidence-driven investment strategies.
Beyond understanding market dynamics, students also gained knowledge about how global investors evaluate companies. In the following session, Viancqa Kurniawan introduced Bloomberg tools used for fundamental company analysis and the assessment of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, which are becoming increasingly important in global investment decisions.
Using case studies from the banking, energy, and mining sectors, students explored how corporate success is no longer measured solely by financial performance. Sustainability practices, corporate governance, social responsibility, and preparedness for the energy transition have become key considerations for investors worldwide. This understanding equips students with the knowledge needed to navigate a rapidly evolving financial industry that increasingly prioritizes sustainability principles.
The program reflects FEB UNDIP’s commitment to providing learning experiences that are relevant to industry needs and global developments. The Bloomberg Financial Market Laboratory is a strategic facility that enables students to gain hands-on experience with the same standards and tools used by leading international financial institutions.
Through its collaboration with Bloomberg Singapore, FEB UNDIP students not only enhanced their market analysis capabilities and investment literacy but also broadened their understanding of future challenges and opportunities in the global financial sector. The experience is expected to strengthen graduates’ readiness to compete nationally and internationally while preparing them to become professionals who can adapt to technological advancements and the dynamics of the global economy.
With continuously expanding facilities and international partnerships, FEB UNDIP further reinforces its role as an educational institution committed to developing outstanding talent in economics, business, and global finance. (Public Communication/UNDIP/FEB)
